A Karenni is missing

A mute 50 years old Karenni, Tee Reh Beh, was reported Sunday to the missing persons database, two days after his disappearance. He was last seen Friday night around 9 or 10pm, five miles away from his residence, according to a neighbor.

Calls were made to all Karenni residents to find out the whereabouts. The family suspected that he could be staying in a Karenni residence somewhere because that particular weekend was busy with at least two Karenni weddings. However, there was nowhere he could be found in the neighborhood.

To close family members and Karenni people in Houston, the main concern is whether he might have been involved in an accident. He is deaf and unable to read signs and signals. He had been seen before of running street lights on foot. He had passed incoming vehicles. Houston is such a big city, and finding a missing person is no small task, even with the help of local police department.

The worst part is he does not have any form of identification with him, and no document of any kind either that can classify his current residence or who he is. Because of fear of such incident, he was given copies of important documents but he always lost them, said a close friend of his.

Not coming back home could also mean, a family member says, that he does not want to go to his upcoming dental appointment, noting that he was in the past very reluctant to getting medical treatments. However, the family is more concerned with his safety.

He is a social security disability recipient and used to be seen collecting soda cans in the neighbors. Karenni Community of Houston volunteers were recently told by the police department that any match will be notified to the family at the numbers provided. KnCH is also gathering its members and start far-reaching searches.

The size of the state of Texas is equivalent to the country of Burma. And this is not the first time, Karenni people went missing. Two years ago, Instead of driving to work, just 30 minutes away, a Karenni man ended up driving more than one thousand miles
